Places I write, and the dream place I want

Places I write, do you have one place you write or do you wander? Is there a dream of what you want your writing area to look like? Here is the way I do writing.

A lot of blogs and writers in general seem to tell other writers it is important to find one place to write and stick to that place, or at least writers that think they are passing on wisdom to tell others to do what they do. I am not one of those writers. Seriously, it’s great if you can dedicate a place in your house for writing if that’s what works for you. But, there are a lot of people who live in an apartment, or don’t have a place they can use dedicated only to their writing. This post is for you.

I don’t have a place I write and stick to it. Yes, I have my desk in one place, but sometimes I get uncomfortable sitting on a hard kitchen chair that I use for my desk. You may ask, why don’t I just go out and buy a better chair? Well, the absolute honest answer, I don’t want to spend money on a new chair. I want to save up to get my dream chair. Maybe someday in the future I will be able to buy that nice comfortable chair that I can curl up on, which I love to do when writing, and I will enjoy sitting at my desk to write. For now though I travel.

My dream chair comfy and functional for a desk. My chair right now, is a kitchen chair, so not so comfy.

Some days, I stay in my room and sit on my bed, which is where I am now. Other days, I am upstairs on the couch using a t.v. tray as a desk, while my family watches YouTube. I really don’t use my desk as much as other writers. It is mostly for a place to put my laptop at the end of my writing session. I prefer my lap desk, which is usually sitting in front of wherever I am sitting. This means I am usually hunched over the computer when I write and gets uncomfortable after a while. Stretches are necessary. This is not me, but I have the same problem, I cannot touch my toes.

But, I can’t complain, I usually write the most when doing this and love that I can wiggle, move, readjust and spread out as much as needed. Also, who wouldn’t want to sit against a bunch of pillows and blankets that make your seat and super comfy?

What would my ideal place to write be? An oversized chair, so I can add those pillows and blankets, especially on cold days. The desk that can hold not only my computer, which is what I have now, but also my note books I have used for ideas, and pens. Lots of colourful pens, I love coloured pens. And a side area to hold all my yummy snacks and drinks.

My second dream chair, for when I don't want to write at my desk. It's a wingback I know, but it's so nice, and it reclines. Maybe I could even find a way to sit at my desk with it, maybe.

For now though, I have a pretty good set up. I still have one place I put reminders, goals, anything else I need for writing. By my desk of course, using a cork board and a white board. So, what are some of the places you prefer to write? Do you stick to one place or are you a fellow traveler? Comment below and let me know.
